About Department
The Department of Surgery at Army Medical College Rangpur provides hands-on training for medical cadets in their 2nd, 3rd , and 4th years of the MBBS program. Our primary goal is to deliver education that’s both community-focused and aligned with the needs of our local population, preparing our students to become skilled and compassionate doctors. By the time they graduate, they’ll be adapt at diagnosing and managing common surgical issues and emergencies that are prevalent in Bangladesh. They will also be equipped to handle casualties from natural disasters and recognize when to refer complex cases to specialists.
The curriculum includes more than 300 hours of theoretical lectures ,bed side class in weeks covering essential topics such as basic surgical principles, Ortho surgery , gastrointestinal surgery, urology, thoracic surgery, neurosurgery, cardiovascular surgery, pediatric surgery, and organ transplantation, along with related fields like anesthesiology, radiology, blood transfusion, radiation oncology, dental surgery, and physical medicine and rehabilitation. In addition, students gain three years of valuable clinical experience through hands-on practice in affiliated hospitals and community settings, ensuring a well-rounded and practical education.
