About Department
The Department of Anatomy at Army Medical College, Rangpur is dedicated to educating pre-clinical cadets. It covers various branches of anatomy, including Gross Anatomy, Embryology, Neuroanatomy, Histology, Radiological Anatomy, and Living Anatomy, with a special focus on applied and functional aspects. The department is supported by a team of experienced, caring faculty members.
The department boasts a well-equipped dissection hall, a spacious histology lab, and an organized museum. The dissection hall is large, well-ventilated, and properly lit, with two cadavers available for study, sufficient dissection instruments, and three sets of fresh viscera. The museum features models, skeletons, charts, specimen jars, and preserved viscera that enhance students’ understanding of human anatomy.
Committed to excellence in medical education, the department employs innovative teaching strategies, integrating anatomical knowledge with other basic and clinical subjects to deepen students’ understanding of common diseases. Over three academic terms, cadets undergo 527 hours of training, comprising 115 hours of theoretical lectures and 412 hours of practical work, dissection, and demonstrations.
